A TEMPEST OF EVENTS
A Gale romance themed fan zine
‘A Tempest of Events’ is a Gale Dekarios romance focused charity zine project meant to celebrate the passion and creativity of the Galemancer community, ranging from Gale/Canon ships, such as Bloodweave and Bladeweave, to those showering their own Gale/Tav pairings with love. This zine will furthermore have a focus on highlighting the diversity of the community, and uplifting the voices of marginalized writers and artists. The zine is to launch in both a physical and digital format, with optional merch bundles for each, as well as a digital cookbook!
ABOUT US
We are a team of passionate creators who’ve decided to channel our love for Gale and the community surrounding his character into this project, with a goal to celebrate the wonderful creators of it, as well as highlight the voices and works of people of colour, as well as trans, queer, disabled, neurodivergent etc. within the Galemancer sphere. And in the spirit of spreading love, we intend to donate our proceeds to a handful of charities. All but one of these will be chosen from ones suggested to us by the community during our interest check, but we have already decided that the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, or the PCRF for short, will be a charity eligible to donate to in order to recieve this zine, as we wish to support those currently living through a genocide. Our plan is for the project to include both a SFW and NSFW section, merch, and a digital Gale themed illustrated cookbook with different dishes from around the world, as well as digital merch.

GUIDELINES
The following guidelines are for both mod and contributor applications, as well as guidelines for content and what will be expected for the finished pieces. If you wish to apply for a medium not listed here, feel free to send us any inquiries as to the application progress or to give it a shot yourself!
GENERAL GUIDELINES
You must be of the age of 18 or above to apply.
Any links to your portfolio or samples must be set so that we can view them! If you have your art posted to your socials, we would also greatly appreciate if your account is set to public, so we might have the chance to see more of it.
The use of AI is strictly prohibited for this zine. Any use of it will result in applications being disqualified and contributors being replaced.
Works centered around Gale are not required, but greatly preferred, so we might be able to see how you capture his likeness in art, writing etc.
NSFW samples are welcome, but we do ask that none contain any themes such as noncon, dubcon, underage etc. and everything is tagged appropriately, merely to make it faster and easier for us to get through submitted pieces. If your general portfolio includes art and / or writing with these themes that is completely fine! We merely ask that submitted samples do not as these topics might be hard for mods to stomach when reading, meaning they might require further time or will be wholly unable to review certain submissions. If you’re unsure if your samples contains such subjects, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
You must have a discord user or be willing to make one, as this will be the primary site of communication.
ARTIST APPLICATION GUIDELINES
General guidelines fully apply.
3-5 samples of what you consider to be your best work.
A link to a portfolio or a public social media with the rest of your art.
At least one of the samples must be fully rendered and contain either a detailed frame or a background, or be a finished comic page
Gale does not need to be the subject of any or all works, but it is greatly preferred.
WRITERS APPLICATION GUIDELINES
General guidelines fully apply.
3-6 samples between 1.5k to 2k of what you consider to be your best writing. These do not have to be complete fanfictions and can be extracts from larger works.
A link to your AO3 or any other site where you publish your writing.
At least one complete fan fiction written, no matter the length.
Gale does not need to be the subject of any or all works, but it is greatly preferred.
MODERATOR APPLICATION GUIDELINES
General guidelines fully apply.
A list of qualifications as to why you think you’re suited to moderate. Passion is always great, but we are under the assumption that any who apply for a fan project are in possession of thus, so make sure to make your other qualities as well!
Previous experience moderating anything is not necessary, but if you do you have any previous experience(s), we would like them listed accordingly with their names included.
You may apply for mutiple positions in one application, but if selected, will only be desginated one role of our choosing based on your competences.
We are looking for mods who will oversee: our socials, submissions / spreadsheets, writing, art, formatting, and discord moderation.
If you have any experiences with the crafts of the former four, we ask that you please include it, as experience with art and writing will make it easier for you to guide and advise our contributors, and experience formatting will make formatting the zine itself all the more easier.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
For any further questions not touched upon in your FAQ, please refer any inquiries to our retrospring!
Q: What is a zine?
A: It’s a fan made magazine dedicated to a certain fandom, character, pairing etc. it is non-official and non-professional, produced entirely by fans and enthusiasts for fans and enthusiasts.Q: Will the zine be for profit, charity or freely available?
A: ‘A Tempest of Events’ will be for charity. Some proceeds will fund the creation and shipping of physical zines and merch, but everything else will go entirely to charity and once fulfillment has been finished a proof of donation will be posted.Q: How do I know if I can trust you with my money?
A: Our team includes several people with experience working on, producing and shipping out zines! Our finance, production and shipping mod specifically ran the very successful “Thunderous” Rolan fan zine!Q: Will other characters be included in this as well?
A: As this is a romance zine, yes! Though Gale will always be the main focus.Q: Are Tav or Durge / Gale pairings allowed?
A: They absolutely are! Gale / oc content is one of the parings we strive to include.Q: Is NSFW allowed for this zine?
A: Yes! Roughly half the zine will be NSFW.Q: Is dead dove content allowed for this zine?
A: to a certain extent: yes. While support creative freedom and are staunchly against censorship, we’ve made the decision that Gale/Mystra and any vaguely non-con pieces will not be featured in the zine itself or in its merch, as we did not find that they fit with our overarching theme of romance (we are aware that dark romance is incredibly popular, but for the most part this zine will not dip into that) These subjects can be referenced in written pieces as something that has occurred in the past, but will not be featured explicitly on page./nother reason for this decision is to avoid triggering the mods. Our team will need to oversee the production and quality of everything featured, and thus cannot engage with these subjects on our own terms and might risk a detriment to our wellbeing. We fully support mods and contributors actively engaging with subjects such as these still however.Q: Are alternate universes allowed?
A: Yes! All we ask is that Gale is still recognizably himself.Q: Do you allow trans Gale, person of colour Gale, fat Gale etc.?
A: We absolutely do!Q: Will you include god Gale?
A: we hope to include his god ending as well, yes! But it depends on our contributing artists and writers’ desire to include him.Q: Are 3D renders allowed?
A: Yes! Though we are still debating if it should be in the zine itself, or be offered as digital merch.Q: Is virtual photography allowed?
A: Unfortunately not.Q: Who are allowed to contribute to the zine?
A: The short answer is everyone 18 or over! However, due to our focus on uplifting marginalized voices, especially people of colour. As such, we will be paying extra attention to creatives from such communities, and to ensure the safety of these creatives, we will not include creators who might exhibit bigoted behavior towards them.Q: Does that mean white, cis gendered, straight etc. people can’t apply?
A: Not at all! We don’t wish to exclude anyone, only make sure that marginalized communities get to feel as included and appreciated as everyone else.Q: How do I apply?
A: Our mod applications will be opened on the 16th of October and our contributor applications on the 17th of November and we’ll be sure to post to our socials once they do! Then, all you have to do is fill out a form with a portfolio of what you consider to be your best work and our mods will select our contributors from those afterwards. For further instructions on how to apply, please refer to our ‘Guidelines’ tab.Q: How many contributors do you intend to include?
A: for the main zine we’ve discussed taking on between 40 and 50 artists, as well as 12 writers. In top of those we will also be picking extra to illustrate the cookbook and do merch.Q: What should my portfolio include?
A: Pieces that you feel highlight your creative skill within whatever craft(s) you decide to apply for! It does not have to be Gale, or even BG3 related, but it is greatly preferred if it is.Q: Can I apply for multiple creative subjects (art, writing, etc.)?
A: Yes! But please be aware that we have diffrent forms for each type of contributor to make the progress of reviewing your applications easier.Q: How will contributors be selected?
A: Contributors will be selected by mod vote!Q: Who is moderating the zine?
A: We have currently not filled up our team just yet, but the head mods for this project are @kentonanamiz (he / they) and @ladysapphyre (they / she)!Q: Will you be accepting mod applications as well?
A: We will! Mod applications will open before contributor applications so that we have a mod team ready by the time we pick our contributors.Q: Can moderators contribute as well, or do they have to apply for both?
A: Mods will be allowed to contribute to the zine as well if they so wish, but due to the limitations of a physical zine, they will have to apply for contributor roles as everyone else.Q: Is zine experience required?
A: It is not! We are planning on including mods and contributors with both little to no experience and those who have plenty of it.Q: Will mods and contributors be paid?
A: No, as all the money will be going to various charities. However, everyone whose helped bring this project to life will receive free copies of the zine, any achieved add-ons and digital merch.Q: Will creators retain the rights to their work(s)?
A: they will, however they are expected to not share or sell their submission publicly (this includes large discord servers) until the zine is out. Though, we might allow wips and previews to be posted some point during the creation progress to keep people updated on the progress and interested in the zine.Q: Will there be any coordinated pieces between artists and writers?
A: It is an option we intend to include!Q: What is the Latin text in some of your sections?
A: It's merely a placeholder! You might recognize it from other places, as ‘Loren ipsum’ is a relatively common placeholder text. It’s a corrupted version of the original Latin version of Cicero’s dialogue: ‘De finibus bonorum et malorum’ but with some of the words altered, others removed and some added to make it improper as well as nonsensical.Once we are ready to unveil those sections, the Latin text will be replaced with the correct, zine related information.
